The quantitative descriptive article that relates to the identified national practice problem, heart disease is, “A descriptive study to assess the knowledge of risk factors of coronary artery disease (CAD)”, by George et al. (2021). The study sought to evaluate knowledge about CAD risk factors among patients in outpatient departments (OPDs) of MOSC Medical College Hospital in Kolenchery. Using a structured questionnaire, the researchers assessed 120 patients, revealing that 71% had average knowledge, 25% had good knowledge, and only 4% had poor knowledge. The patients’ education level significantly influenced knowledge but other demographic variables such as age, sex, and income did not. This study provides foundational insights into patient awareness of CAD risk factors, which are crucial in the implementation of targeted prevention interventions.
