Following a self-reflection, I identified my strengths and gaps/ weaknesses in leadership. My greatest strength is empowering people by fostering a collaborative culture and building confidence in team members. As a nurse leader, I have learned to trust my colleagues to independently make decisions and act on them while ensuring they have the needed resources and support to excel. My second strength is maintaining personal ethics and morals. All my life, I always prioritize integrity, ethical decision-making, professionalism, and advocacy for those in need. My leadership gaps/ weaknesses are strategic organization and policy awareness. I often find myself struggling to balance daily clinical responsibilities with long-term planning and keeping up with evolving healthcare regulations. I will address these gaps by engaging in continuous education on healthcare policies, researching and reading evolving policies, engaging in policy advocacy at institutional, local, and national levels, and even pursuing an online course on how healthcare policies affect nursing and healthcare practice at large. To improve my strategy planning skills, I will practice aligning clinical and organizational excellence, seek mentorship from nurse leaders and managers, and even complete online courses.
